Gorge du
Verdon |
|
The
famous limestone of the Verdon Gorge in the south of France, holds
a variety of routes from long river-to-rim routes to short pumpy
test pieces. There are moderate routes in the 5.8 to 5.9 range,
all the way up to "way too hard". Climbs are typically done by rappelling
from the top, but there are a few longer climbs that are normally
done from the bottom.
Rest
days can be spent on the favorite French pastime of people watching
in bistros, sun bathing and canyoning in the river, or eating too
much cheese and drinking too much wine. The best time of year for
the Verdon is the Spring and Fall.
