Gorge du Verdon

The Grand Canyon of the Verdon is a deep limestone chasm through which flows the Verdon River. The walls of the canyon rise without a break for thousands of clean, gray, rocky feet. Most of the routes climb only the upper portion of the cliff, with an approach by rappel (be sure you will be able to get out!) There are, however, a number of climbs which start at the foot of the cliff. These are long undertakings, adventurous and committing, quite a different style to the sport climbing along the rim.
