Mönch and Jungfrau with Joe Arvai • August 21 - 22, 2016

Joe joined Mark for a quick 2 day outing in the Berner Oberland. Our original plans had included the Eiger, but recent snow and remarkably chilly weather suggested a change. The Mönch and Jungfrau were the obvious contenders.

Return to all recent trips

Joe, climbing on the Mönch SE Ridge. You can see it is not too warm out.

On the summit of the Mönch.

Another team joins us on the summit. Thankfully, it was not too terribly windy for this narrow ridge section.

The final few moves off the rock at the base of the SE Ridge.

3:30 am breakfast at the Mönchsjoch hut and we are off. Here, about 6 am, the peaks begin to lighten. Looking up at the Jungfrau.

And the other direction down the Aletsch Glacier.

Just below the Rottalsattel on the Jungfrau.

Joe gives the thumbs up on the summit.

Another team on the final summit ridge of the Jungfrau.
