Dorothy, Ian and Tyler do Chamonix off-piste • January 18-22, 2016

Dorothy with her two sons Tyler and Ian are a Western U.S. skiing family from way back, and came out to Chamonix for the first time.

Return to all recent trips

Taking in the views and the crystal clear air at the top of the Grands Montets lift.

On the Vallée Blanche, we found excellent snow conditions.

Pausing near the top of a Courmayeur off piste run.

It's nice to ski en famille.

A cross roads above Courmayeur... left or right?

Left looks good!

Hot Chocolate du jour in Italie.

Views of the scary side of Mont Blanc from the top of the Arp lift in Courmayeur.

Taking in the views before we dive down a steep couloir.

Oh, and mustn't neglect to take time for a nice lunch! Decision crisis again...

The Old Master... Ian posing for Rembrandt.

On our way home from Courmayeur we headed up the Skyway lift to Pointe Helbronner for an unforgettable sunset.

On top of Pointe Helbronner

Looking down on a sea of mists.

Back to the Grands Montets, where we found some nice powder snow conditions on the glacier.

Looking down on the Argentière glacier.

Oh so nice and fluffy!

Ditto.

A little thin at the glacier margin in this early season, but adds to the scenic value.

Looking across at the Aiguilles Rouges.

Another day, another meal in a cozy (if not very warm!) slopeside chalet restaurant.

Ian and Tyler Boshard have their photo taken by the chairlift named after them (though mis-spelled). We'll get that corrected before your next visit, guys.
