Larry True and Fre Bosman in the Mont Blanc massif • August 17 - 20, 2014

Larry and Fre, old climbing buddies from way back in the mists of time, came to Chamonix once again to climb with Kathy.

Return to all recent trips

We began with an ascent of the Aiguilles Marbrées, on the Italian border with France. A bluebird morning.

If a little windy in spots! The beginning of the technical climbing here.

Scrambling up the ridge, with the Dent du Géant in the background.

Delicate scrambling in places among loose boulders.

In a fantastic setting.

The "fun" seems never to end.

After Fre had to return home to Switzerland, Kathy and Larry continued on to the Albert Premier hut. Starting out at dawn for the Tete Blanche.

Crossing the glacier as the light comes up.

Enjoying views of the Aiguille de Chardonnet in the early light.

Valley clouds add interest to the view, but no real threat.

Near the summit with the Aiguille de Chardonnet behind.

Photo time: The Aiguille du Tour in the viewfinder.

A couple of other climbers on top before us.

They kindly snapped our portrait as well.

Back at the hut, we take our ease as others begin their journey to who knows where. Thanks to Larry and Fre for another great time in the mountains.
