Norm Numerof • Alps Climbing • July 2003

Norm Numerof spent a little more than a week with Kathy in the Chamonix area on classic ascents. They began based from the Cosmiques Hut but quickly ventured further afield, first to the traverse of the Dômes de Miage, and finishing on the Dent du Géant and the Aiguille d'Entrèves.

After the Cosmiques, they did a traverse of the Points Lachenal. While this slope is occasionally only snow, it looks pretty icy here.

After their stay in the Cosmiques hut, they descended to Chamonix, then up to the Conscrits, as a base for the traverse of the Dômes de Miage. In this photos, the sun sets on the Aiguille des Glaciers.

The traverse of the Dômes de Miage is a classic ridge traverse, sometimes on rock and at others on fine snow aretes such as this one behind Norm. High winds on Mont Blanc behind.

After the Dômes, they headed up to the Torino hut, on the border of France and Italy. Their first objective is the Dent du Géant, seen here in the setting sun, from the hut.

Another climber on the Dent, just ahead of Norm and Kathy.

With one more day to go, they did a Traverse of the Aiguille d'Entrèves.

And the final ride back to Chamonix......
