Emery Dameron Alps Mountaineering September 2002
Emery joined Kathy and me on Mount Kenya. But in the interest of a bit of previous acclimatization, he made a quick trip to the Zermatt area for some alpine fun. Of the four days we had planned the first was quite rainy. In fact the following day, we turned back on the Breithorn for fear of avalanches. But we did have a good two days on the Rimpfischhorn. |
The Breithorn from the Klein Matterhorn. The previous night it snowed almost 2 feet. To the left are the Rimpfischhorn and the Strahlhorn. |
Since we were unable to do the Breithorn, we settled for the Gornerschlucht. |
But the next couple days were good and we headed up the Rimpfischhorn. On our summit day, the lower valleys were filled with cloud, but higher up was wonderfully clear. |

The fine finish to the Rimpfischhorn. |
