Huascarán Sur and Norte

This photo was taken from the hike into Pisco Base Camp. It shows Huascarán Norte on the right and the higher Huascar·n Sur on the left. The normal route on Huascarán ascends from the west side (opposite in this photo) to the broad saddle between the two summits, La Garganta. From there it climbs south up the glaciated slopes seen here.

The NE Face of Huascarán Norte shown here includes some of the most difficult routes in the range.
