Photo Information - Chris Kulp climbing on the Aiguille d'Entrèves

Return to the March 2002 Newsletter page.

This is a great climb, right on the border between France and Italy. On this perfect day, we climbed up the west ridge and down the east. And this is the way we recommend the ascent. Here, Chris is about 150 feet below the summit looking up at what lies ahead. The climbing is not overly difficult, mostly class 3 and 4 with a few exposed bits of harder climbing sprinkled in for good measure. The Drus, the Aiguille Verte (the hihgest summit) and the Droites can be seen behind. The ogives in the Merde Glace are visible in the glacier as it winds its way down to the Camonix Valley.
