Argentière Glacier, France

In this photo, Kathy is skiing through seracs heading towards the Argentière Hut, our first first night away from Chamonix. Just around the corner the route drops down and left all the way to the glacier below. From there we skin up the gentle glacier to the hut. Normally this is a short day and we take out time and enjoy the magnificent views.

The photo here was actually taken on a day tour we did called les Trois Cols (Three Cols). It takes in the same Col du Chardonnet and Fenêtre de Saleina as the Haute Route, but then crosses another high pass to drop into Le Tour. It is a long day tour, and many parties choose to do it in two.
