Photo Information - The North Face Triangle of Mont Blanc du Tacul

This photo was taken at sunrise from the Cosmiques hut and shows Mont Blanc du Tacul and the North Face Triangle. On the right side in the shade, is the thin strip of ice of the Chèré Couloir. It ends about half way up the Triangle at a small snow patch. Normally, we rappel from the top of the ice. There is a fine ice route up the broad depression of the center of the Triangle, but more fun is the Contamine-Grisolle, which more or less follows the rocky buttress left of the depression. The route starts just left of the toe of rock, ascends the slope/couloir and gains the crest of the buttress at about half height.
